Maddi Lamm has been named the new East Carolina Head Cheerleading Coach according to an announcement by Director of Athletics Jon Gilbert Monday afternoon. Lamm replaces Susie Glynn, who retired in November after serving as the head coach for 23 years.

“Maddi has been a part of the Pirate athletic family as a cheerleader and as a former member of our coaching staff,” Gilbert said. “I am excited to welcome her home to lead our Cheer program as the new head coach.”

Lamm, an ECU Cheer alumnus, was a member of the all-girl team during the 2014-15 campaign before becoming a member of the coed squad for three years (2015-17). She is certified in USA Cheer Safety & Risk Management and Athlete Protection.

After graduating from East Carolina University, she served as an assistant coach from 2018-2024 where she oversaw the all-girl squad and mascot appearances while also assisting with gameday and the competition team. Lamm was integral in the choreography of the routine that won ECU the 2021 NCA Intermediate Large Coed National Championship.

“I’m beyond thrilled to become the next head coach of the ECU Cheerleading program,” Lamm said. “As an alumnus of the ECU Cheerleading program, this opportunity means so much to me. I look forward to working with such talented athletes and creating something amazing together. I am ready to bring energy and passion and continue to make this program a positive representation for Pirate Nation.”

Lamm, a native of Wilson, N.C. is married to Parker Lamm, a three-year Pirate baseball letterman (2014-16). The couple resides in Greenville and are the proud parents of their son, Tatum.
