Harold Varner III finishes tied for 18th at LIV Golf Hong Kong

ECU alum Harold Varner III doubled his scores from the first and second rounds and finished tied for 18th at the LIV Golf Hong Kong event on Sunday.

Varner shot 2-under par on Friday and Saturday then shot 4-under par on Sunday to finish at 8-under par. He tied for 18th with David Puig. Varner had birdies on No. 2, 3, 6, 13 and 16. He had a bogey on No. 5.

His team, 4Aces GC, had a big improvement on Sunday to finish 8th after placing next to last the first two days. Dustin Johnson, Thomas Pieters, Patrick Reed and Varner finished with a -23.

Varner picked up $255,000 with his finish, according to GolfWeek.com.

Sergio Garcia won the event with a -18, three shots better than Dean Burmester (-15).
