Former ECU receiver Jaylen Johnson placed on PUP list by Chargers

by | Jul 14, 2025

The Los Angeles Chargers have placed former East Carolina receiver Jaylen Johnson on their Physically Unable to Perform list.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport posted the news on his X account. Johnson was one of five players the Chargers listed. The reason for being placed on the PUP list wasn’t indicated.

This means Johnson would not be eligible to play for the team until the fifth game of the regular season, at the earliest. According to NFL.com, each team has a five-week window to allow the players on the list to begin practicing. Once they are able to practice, the player then has a 21-day window to be activated to the 53-man roster or be placed on injured reserve.

Johnson was hoping to make an impact with the team after not recording any stats as a rookie last season. He was on a team already stocked with extra wide receivers and tight ends, according to Chargers.com.
