East Carolina’s football team will likely see quarterback Jake Retzlaff this season after all. He’ll just be wearing a different uniform.

The former BYU quarterback will transfer to Tulane, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. ECU is scheduled to face BYU on Sept. 20 and Tulane on Oct. 9.
Retzlaff left BYU after an investigation into his breaking the BYU Honor Code. He was named in a lawsuit and accused of raping a woman in 2023. The lawsuit was dismissed in June, Thamel reports, with “the parties jointly agreeing to dismiss with prejudice.”
Thamel also noted the relationship Retzlaff has with Tulane coach Jon Sumrall, saying in a post to X, “Retzlaff comes to Tulane with a long history with coach Jon Sumrall, who recruited Retzlaff heavily to Troy while Sumrall coached there. Retzlaff visited Troy before ultimately picking BYU out of junior college prior to the 2023 season.”
