HOKKAIDO, Japan — East Carolina pitcher Ethan Norby did his part for Team USA, getting the squad off to a good start in a 6-1 loss to Samurai Japan on Tuesday in the All-Star Championship Series, played at Es Con Field in Hokkaido, Japan.

Norby started and pitched two innings, striking out one and giving up two hits. He was then relieved on the mound. Three relievers gave up all six of Japan’s runs on 10 hits after that.

Team USA scored a run in the sixth to cut it to 5-1 before Japan scored in the bottom half of the frame.
