ECU’s Johnson earns AAC softball Player of the Week honors

IRVING, Texas – East Carolina graduate infielder Morgan Johnson has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week according to an announcement from the league office on Monday afternoon.

Johnson had a strong weekend at the plate for ECU in the Pirate Invitational, slashing numbers of .750/1.333/.750 with six RBI, two home runs and 16 putouts in three games.

The Evans, Ga. native was instrumental in ECU’s 10-5 win over Loyola Chicago on Saturday night, going 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run and two RBI. Johnson’s four hits in that game tied a career-high, marking just the second time in her career she has recorded four hits in a game.

Johnson and the Pirates close out their nine-game homestand on Wednesday when they face UNCW at 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
