East Carolina sophomore LHP Ethan Norby has been tabbed the Co-American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week according to an announcement by the league Monday afternoon. The weekly honor is the first of his career and first by a Pirate this season.

Norby opened eyes nationwide last Friday, striking out an AAC single-game record 19 batters over a career-best 7.1 innings with no walks in East Carolina’s 7-0 victory over then No. 24 Coastal Carolina. The 19 strikeouts, just one off the program single-game record, are the most by any pitcher in NCAA Division I this year. Combined with Ethan Young’s three strikeouts over the final 1.2 frames of the night, the duo matched the ECU single-game record and compiled the most by any Division I pitching staff in a contest thus far in 2025.

Remarkably, Norby retired the first nine Chanticleer batters of the game via the strikeout and did not allow a Coastal Carolina base runner until the top of the seventh inning.

The Pirates are back in action Tuesday, March 11th, when they visit VCU for the first of two midweek affairs. First pitch at The Diamond is scheduled for 6 p.m.
