N.C. State got off to a fast start and went on to take an 11-5 victory over East Carolina in their nonconference softball game on Tuesday.
The Pirates (15-8) saw their five-game win streak end with the loss. The Pirates take a 3-0 AAC record into Friday’s home contest with Tulane, part of a three-game set between the two teams.

RALEIGH, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team saw its five-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday evening as the Pirates fell, 11-5, to NC State at Dail Softball Stadium.
Kanisha Anderson led ECU (15-8, 3-0 AAC) at the plate with three hits and Emma Jackson hit a two-run homer in the losing effort for the Pirates.
NC State jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning before the Pirates got on the board in the top of the second on an RBI double from Chloe Gejier. After the Wolfpack added a run in the bottom of the second, Jackson pulled ECU within a run on her two-run blast in the top of the third.
The Pirates would tie the game at 5-5 on Annie Kate Dalton’s RBI double and Anna Sawyer’s RBI single in the top of the fifth. NC State would hit two home runs in the bottom of the fifth, including a three-run homer, to put the Wolfpack ahead 9-5 and take the momentum back for the win.
Taylor Apple (6-3) gave up six earned runs in the loss while Kendall Frost got the start and tossed three strikeouts.
