RALEIGH, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team saw its five-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday evening as the Pirates fell, 11-5, to NC State at Dail Softball Stadium.

Kanisha Anderson led ECU (15-8, 3-0 AAC) at the plate with three hits and Emma Jackson hit a two-run homer in the losing effort for the Pirates.

NC State jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning before the Pirates got on the board in the top of the second on an RBI double from Chloe Gejier. After the Wolfpack added a run in the bottom of the second, Jackson pulled ECU within a run on her two-run blast in the top of the third.

The Pirates would tie the game at 5-5 on Annie Kate Dalton’s RBI double and Anna Sawyer’s RBI single in the top of the fifth. NC State would hit two home runs in the bottom of the fifth, including a three-run homer, to put the Wolfpack ahead 9-5 and take the momentum back for the win.

Taylor Apple (6-3) gave up six earned runs in the loss while Kendall Frost got the start and tossed three strikeouts.
