The Cleveland Browns have a Pirate in their crew now.
The Browns announced on Friday they have signed former ECU wide receiver Winston Wright to the team. He will wear No. 38.
The move comes amid injuries to the team and the news that veteran linebacker Jordan Hicks has retired, according to DawsByNature.com. “The reason for that is the team is currently down two players: David Bell is still recovering from last year’s surgery, and then Michael Woods is now dealing with a hand injury,” Chris Pokomy reports.
Wright played for ECU in 2024. He started his college career at West Virginia (2019-21) then went to Florida State (2022-23) before finishing up at ECU. He played in 49 games with 187 catches for 1,930 yards and 18 touchdowns. At ECU last season, he had 54 catches for 556 yards and eight touchdowns.
He had two touchdowns against Florida Atlantic in the Nov. 7 win. He also had nine catches for 68 yards and a touchdown against Tulsa and nine catches for 64 yards and a touchdown against Navy.
He was invited this past spring to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie camp.
