Alec Burleson gets first Silver Slugger award

by | Nov 7, 2025

It was nearly certain a St. Louis Cardinals player would win the Silver Slugger Award for the National League. It was just a matter of which one.

ECU baseball alum and Cardinals utility player Alec Burleson won his first Silver Slugger Award, beating out San Diego’s Jake Croneworth and teammate Brendan Donovan, for the honor. It’s Burleson’s first Silver Slugger honor.

Burleson batted .290 with 18 homers, 69 RBI and 28 extra-base hits (26 doubles, two triples). His 125 OPS+ was the highest of the three finalists. He also had better numbers than Donovan and Cronenworth in homers, RBIs, slugging percentage and batting average.

The other National League Silver Sluggers:

  • 1B – Pete Alonso, Mets
  • 2B – Ketel Marte, D-backs
  • 3B – Manny Machado, Padres
  • SS – Geraldo Perdomo, D-backs
  • OF – Juan Soto, Mets
  • OF – Corbin Carrol, D-backs
  • OF – Kyle Tucker, Cubs
  • C – Hunter Goodman, Rockies
  • DH – Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers

MLB will announce the American League Silver Slugger winners on Friday.
