AAC commissioner lashes out at transfer portal after Marshal bows out of bowl game

by | Dec 16, 2024

AAC commissioner Tim Pernetti shredded the transfer portal window in light of Marshall’s bowl game opt-out over the weekend.

Issues with the transfer portal and the loss of their head coach were two issues hanging over the Marshall football program. It’s a big enough issue that the Thundering Herd decided not to play in the Independence Bowl vs. Army.

“If an institution & its conference has the slightest concern regarding its ability to play in a bowl, it should not accept the opportunity & allow a willing participant to compete,” Pernetti said, according to On3.com.

It was later announced Louisiana Tech would take Marshall’s place.
