East Carolina senior guard Jordan Riley has been named one of the five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week according to an announcement from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Tuesday afternoon.

For the 2025-26 season, the USBWA continues its national player of the week program that has been affiliated with the Oscar Robertson Trophy since the 2009-10 season. Prior to the 2024-25 season, the USBWA had recognized just one player each week.

Each Tuesday during the regular season, designated USBWA board members will select five standouts from the 31 Division I conference players of the week to be recognized. This week’s selections were chosen from a list of the conferences that named a player of the week on Monday.

Riley comes off two stellar games last week for the Pirates, averaging 36 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor over those two contests. The senior guard scored a career-high 37 points and made 14 field goals against Rice (Jan. 28) and dropped 35 points in addition to nine rebounds and five assists in ECU’s road win over Florida Atlantic (Feb. 1) to earn American Conference Player of the Week honors.

Riley leads the American and is top 10 nationally in points per game at 22.9 and is the only player in the American to have back-to-back 30-point performances and leads the league in 30-point games with four. His 37-point output against Rice was the first time a Pirate scored 37 in a game since Akeem Richmond did so against Campbell on Jan. 2, 2014 and his 35 points against Florida Atlantic marked the first time a Pirate scored 35 in a game since Vance Jackson against Cincinnati on Jan. 12, 2022.

Riley is currently just 40 points away from being the fourth Pirate to reach 1,000 points at East Carolina in just two seasons, joining Blue Edwards, Oliver Mack and Jayden Gardner.
