Winnipeg and Saskatchewan square off on Sunday in a key CFL game.
Both are in the playoff chase, but it goes deeper than that. It’s called the OK Tire Labour Day Weekend in the CFL, and Winnipeg and Saskatchewan really take it seriously.
ECU alum and Winnipeg offensive lineman Stanley Bryant can tell you that on his own. He and other players on both teams were asked to give their impressions of their opposition ahead of Sunday’s 7 p.m. game, which can be seen on the CBS Sports Network.
“They have nice jerseys, the black and green ones,” said the lineman in a jokingly tone in a story posted on the CFL’s website. “They’re pretty dope.”
Bryant has been involved with the rivalry since 2015. In fact, he and Saskatchewan coach Corey Mace were once teammates on the Calgary Stampeders before Bryant landed in Winnipeg.
“I love the head coach,” added the lineman. “Shout out Corey Mace, we played together. That’s it.”
Bryant also appeared on the Handled Internally podcast, hosted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Click above to watch and hear more.
