Wolfpack expect to face multi-back attack from ECU

by | Aug 26, 2025

NC State had its problems stopping one ECU running back in last year’s Military Bowl. How will they handle multiple running backs on Thursday?

While Rahjai Harris is no longer with the Pirates, ECU does have three running backs named to the Doak Walker Award List: London Montgomery, Marlon Gunn Jr. and Parker Jenkins. They are expected to get a lot of carries and could make things complex for the Wolfpack defense.

Sports Illustrated broke down what kind of impact each running back could make on Thursday, saying in part, “The Wolfpack defense must know all three since each can do damage.

“There isn’t a real “starter” for the game on Thursday, but the team has all three of these backs who can operate as a committee. They all have the trust of the cafes, and are ready to all contribute to the Pirates’ offense in 2025. “
