Busy, important week for Harold Varner III at LIV Golf Chicago

by | Aug 8, 2025

The LIV Golf Tour is back in the United States, and a key tournament will be held on Friday in Chicago.

This tournament and the one in Indianapolis next week are the final two individual tournaments. Those two will close out the LIV Golf points standings and will determine which golfers are safe and which could face uncertain futures.

According to the LIV Golf website, “Most of LIV Golf’s biggest names are safe for 2026, but there are team captains, veterans of various experience levels, and rising talents who face the threat of relegation with a finish of 49th or lower in the final points standings.”

ECU alum Harold Varner III currently sits 26th in the standings with 45.98 points. So he’s safe overall but is currently in the Open Zone. The golfers from No. 26-50 could be dropped by their team or traded. Varner is on the 4Aces GC team, which includes Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed and Thomas Pieters. 4Aces GC is currently fourth in the team standings.

The tournament starts at noon with Varner paired with Charles Howell III and Cameron Tringale. They’ll start play on No. 10.

Earlier this week, Varner and The Knutsford Golf Club in the United Kingdom posted a video about his involvement in a day of golf with the junior members of the club. It was part of his HV3 Foundation and the work it does.

Truly an unforgettable day. Grateful for the chance to spend time with the next generation, thank you for having me!”

To top that, he was also part of the ‘Can I Vibe With Y’all” podcast. They talked about golf, family and his life in general.
