Tulane was chosen to win the race for the American Conference football title with ECU picked to finish in the middle of the pack.
The conference’s media days wrapped up in Charlotte on Friday. The coaches of each team voted on how the league would finish. The Green Wave — who lost to Army, 35-14, — in last year’s conference title game, were the pick to win the conference this year. They received nine first-place votes and 188 total points. Navy was second with three first-place votes and 170 points followed closely by Memphis with two first-place votes and 166 total points.

ECU starts its season on Aug. 28 at NC State. Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren, who was also in Charlotte for the ACC media days this week, said in an interview he hoped his team “beat the s*** out of that team.”
