by | Jul 25, 2025

The New York Yankees have traded one of their top prospects, ECU baseball alum Josh Grosz, to the Colorado Rockies.

MLB Pipeline announced the move on social media on Friday. The Rockies get Grosz, a right-handed pitcher and the Yankees’ No. 21 prospect, along with left-hander Griffin Herring, the Yankees’ No. 8 prospect, for Colorado third baseman Ryan McMahon.

Grosz is 4-8 this season for the Hudson Valley Renegades with a 4.14 ERA in 15 starts over 87 innings. He’s given up 66 hits, struck out 94 and walked 35. Batters were hitting .211 against him. He last pitched on Wednesday in a 6-1 loss to Rome. He gave up three earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and three walks.

Grosz and fellow ECU alum Josh Moylan were teammates for Hudson Valley. Grosz was assigned to the Spokane Indians in High Class-A.
