Pirates in baseball: First half of season ends with big games from Moylan, Burleson

The first half of the baseball season has been completed with Sunday’s games.

Baseball will take a break for the All-Star Game in Atlanta on Tuesday. It will resume with the second half of the season on Thursday.

Major League Baseball

  • Connor Norby, Miami Marlins: On 15-day injured list with left wrist inflammation. 
  • Alec Burleson, St. Louis Cardinals: 2-for-3 with run and walk in 5-4 win over Braves. Also stole his fourth base of the season. He singled and scored in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3. 
  • Shawn Armstrong, Texas Rangers: Pitched final 1.1 innings in 5-1 win over Astros. Gave up a hit and struck out one to lower ERA to 3.21.
  • Gavin Williams, Cleveland Guardians: Did not pitch in 6-5 win over White Sox
  • Jeff Hoffman, Toronto Blue Jays: Did not pitch in 6-3 loss to Athletics
  • Clayton McCullough, Miami Marlins (manager): Beat Orioles 11-1 to improve to 44-51
  • Zach Agnos, Colorado Rockies: Pitched one inning in 4-2 loss to Reds. Gave up a run on two hits with a strikeout.

Triple-A

  • Carson Whisenhunt, Sacramento RiverCats (Giants): Did not pitch in 7-0 win over Salt Lake

Double-A

  • Trey Yesavage, New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays): Did not pitch in 5-1 loss to Somerset
  • Carter Spivey, Akron Rubber Ducks (Guardians): Placed on 7-day injured list with right shoulder strain on June 12.
  • Trey Benton, Akron Rubber Ducks (Guardians): On season-ending disabled list

Single-A

  • Carter Cunningham, Vancouver Canadians (Blue Jays): 0-for-3 with walk in 7-6 loss to Hillsboro

  • Josh Moylan, Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees): 2-for-4 with RBI in 3-2 win over Asheville. He singled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning.
  • Josh Grosz, Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees): Did not pitch in 3-2 win over Asheville
  • Tyler Bradt, Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals): Did not pitch in 10-8 loss to Cedar Rapids
  • Jacob-Jenkins-Cowart, Beloit Sky Carp (Marlins): 1-for-4 with run in 8-3 win over Dayton
  • Ryan McCrystal, Daytona Tortugas (Reds): Game vs. Jupiter suspended to Aug. 5 due to rain
  • Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman, Modesto Nuts (Mariners): Placed on full-season disabled list on April 15.
  • Erik Ritchie, Clearwater Threshers (Phillies): Did not pitch in 7-0 win over Fort Myers
  • Landon Ginn, Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Cubs): Did not pitch in 4-2 loss to Kannapolis

Frontier League

  • Danny Beal, Down East Bird Dawgs (Independent): Pitched six innings of relief in 6-5 win over New York. Came on in the second inning and gave up a run on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts. ERA lowered to 5.52.
