Pirates in baseball: Connor Norby, Clayton McCullough, Marlins win again

by | Jul 8, 2025

It was a relatively quiet night for the East Carolina alumni in the majors on Monday.

With the minor league teams off, the focus turned on the games that were played. Alec Burleson and the St. Louis Cardinals were off while everyone else was in action or didn’t see the playing field.

East Carolina baseball alumni Connor Norby, Clayton McCullough and the Miami Marlins beat the Reds, 5-1. It improved the Fish to 41-48 overall, 11-3 over the past two weeks. Norby went 1-for-4 in the win.

Also of note is Gavin Williams and the Cleveland Guardians ended a 10-game losing streak with a win on Monday while Jeff Hoffman and the Toronto Blue Jays continued their winning ways. Williams and Hoffman did not pitch in their games.
