Pirates in baseball: Connor Norby and the Marlins win again, rest of the other Pirates In The Pros

by | Jul 2, 2025

Trey Yesavage had a good first inning, and then it went downhill from there.

The East Carolina baseball alum struck out two of the three batters he faced in the first inning but then gave up four runs in the third inning and was pulled. The game went to extra innings as New Hampshire rallied but lost, 11-6, on Tuesday.

Yesavage got the first two outs in the second inning, then gave up two hits before striking out the last batter of the frame. Then, in the third, a double, two walks and a wild pitch was followed by a three-run homer that gave Portland a 4-3 lead and ended his night.

Portland got six runs in the 11th inning and held on after New Hampshire got one back in the bottom of the frame.

Yesavage’s line was 2.1 innings, four runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. His ERA is now at 5.79.

Clayton McCullough and Connor Norby

Although Norby was 0-for-4 at the plate, he and McCullough racked up their eighth straight victory by beating the Twins, 2-0. Miami is now 38-45 for the season.

Zach Agnos

He picked up his third save with Triple-A Albuquerque in a 9-7 win over El Paso. He came on in the ninth, gave up a hit and struck out two to lower his ERA to 2.25.
