We already know Trey Yesavage and Carson Whisenhunt have a bright future in Major League Baseball. Now, the whole world will get to see just how good he is.
The ECU baseball alumni were chosen to play in the MLB Futures Game. The news was announced Monday morning.
According to MLB.com, the All-Star Futures Game will be played at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 12, at Truist Park in Atlanta. It will air live on MLB Network and will be simulcast on MLB.TV, MLB.com and via the MLB app.
Yesavage is having a banner run through the minor leagues. He’s pitched at Low-A Dunedin and High-A Vancouver and currently is with Double-A New Hampshire. He’s currently 5-1 in 14 games with a 2.45 ERA, 104 strikeouts and a 0.90 ERA in 62.1 innings.
He’s scheduled to start again on Tuesday.
Whisenhunt is 7-5 with a 4.55 ERA this season for the Sacramento River Cats. He got a no-decision in last Sunday’s game vs. Oklahoma City. He has pitched 89 innings with 79 strikeouts and a 1.27 WHIP.
