Another day and another home run for Alec Burleson.
He made his 14th straight start and continued his hot June with two more hits, one a homer, in a 6-5 win in 11 innings for the St. Louis Cardinals over the Cincinnati Reds. He finished 2-for-5 with a run and three RBI.
His homer was a two-run blast in the first inning for the Cardinals. In the eighth, he singled in a run to cut the Reds’ lead to 5-4.
Saturday’s outing now has him batting .391 in June (27-for-69) with 10 runs, four doubles, four homers and 14 RBI. That’s raised his season batting average to .314 (69-for-220).
Zach Agnos
He pitched the final inning for Albuquerque in a 6-2 loss to Tacoma. He struck out one in the bottom of the eighth inning to put his ERA at 2.00.
It was his first game for the Isotopes since he was sent down to Triple-A by the Colorado Rockies. He pitched in 20 games for the Rockies out of the bullpen, picking up four saves as the team’s closer over a stretch that included 21.1 innings overall. However, he ran into some inconsistencies and saw his ERA rise to 5.48.
Landon Ginn
He picked up his first win of the season in a 2-1 victory in 10 innings over Fayetteville.
Ginn pitched the final two innings, giving up three hits with two strikeouts. Myrtle Beach won it with a run in the bottom of the 10th.
