Could Trey Yesavage make it to majors this year?

by | Jun 18, 2025

East Carolina baseball alum Trey Yesavage has had quite the rookie season in the minors.

Baseball experts who saw the Toronto Blue Jays’ No. 2 prospect pitch in Dunedin felt he had the stuff to make it to the majors … next season. However, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic noted that timetable could be bumped up some.

“If he continues to dominate performance-wise, in tandem with consistent routines and progress with his priority goals, then it’s not out of the question,” Toronto player development director Joe Sclafani said recently. “It’s our group’s job to think long term and put him in the best position to succeed, but Trey will ultimately be the driver of those decisions.”

Bannon also reports that if Yesavage can keep the walks low and continue to impress, “his four-pitch arsenal may already be big-league ready if his control and command hold up at higher levels.” Bannon said while Yesavage’s 120-130 innings pitched is the organization’s limit this season (he’s pitched 54.2 innings going into his next start), he could still be more than ready to compete for a spot in the rotation in 2026.
