East Carolina baseball alum Josh Grosz picked up the win for Hudson Valley in an 11-2 win over Aberdeen on Thursday.
Grosz (4-3) pitched five innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and three walks. He lowered his ERA to 3.83.
Outside of a balk, he settled down after giving up two runs in the first inning. Aberdeen didn’t get another hit after Grosz left the game. He struck out two in the second inning, got three straight outs after giving up a triple in the third and struck out two in the fourth.
Teammate and fellow ECU alum Josh Moylan did not play.
Shawn Armstrong
He earned his fourth hold of the season but the Rangers could not hold the lead, falling 4-3 to the Rays.
Armstrong got the last out in the seventh inning on a strikeout. However, Tampa scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it.
Armstrong dropped his ERA to 3.60 with the outing.

Sacramento scored fourth in the seventh and two in the ninth to win it.
