ECU alum Harold Varner III stayed in contention at the LIV Golf Mexico City event with another solid round on Saturday.

Varner followed up his first-day 3-under par with a 4-under par on Saturday. He’s tied for sixth at 7-under, six shots behind Bryson DeChambeau, who has led the first two rounds. Chambeau followed up his 8-under par with a 5-under-par Saturday.

Varner who is tied with Matt Jones, started out with three birdies and two bogeys in his first six holes. He stayed steady until he got a birdie on No. 10. He got two more birdies to rack up his round of 67 a day after he shot a 68.

His 4Aces GC team is within six shots of Ripper GC for the top spot, sitting at 18-under-par.
