ECU alum Harold Varner III and others will tee it up on Friday at 2:05 p.m. ET for the first round of the LIV Golf Mexico tournament.
The three-round, 54 holes of stroke play will be held on the Club de Golf Chapultepec in Naucalpan, Mexico. Varner is part of the 4Aces GC team. Captain Dustin Johnson has won the tournament twice and teammate Patrick Reed has won it once.
Varner, Johnson and Thomas Pieters will start on the No. 9 hole.
Of note about Varner is the following from LivGolf.com:
“Varner is one of six LIV Golf players to earn points in all five tournaments this season, and he has already accrued more points this season (27.70) compared to 2024 (13.75). The 34-year-old American leads the league in GIR (76.67%) and ranks T3 and 10th in driving accuracy (65.71%) and scrambling (61.90%), respectively. Varner would put himself in contention at Chapultepec if he can sort out his putting game (1.66 putts per hole – T43).”
