Pirates in baseball: Norby has big game in Marlins victory in 10 over Phillies

ECU alum and third baseman Connor Norby had his first breakout game for the Marlins in 7-5 win over the Phillies in 10 innings on Sunday.

He was 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and two runs scored to raise his batting average to .313 for the season. He also stole his first base of the season.

He reached on a fielder’s choice in the first, then stole second base. In the third, he singled. He doubled in the sixth but was left at third. He singled in the eighth and later scored to give Miami the lead at 5-4.

He started the 10th inning at second base and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Stowers for a 6-5 lead. Miami added another run for the final margin.

The Marlins improved to 9-12 under ECU alum and manager Clayton McCullough.

Josh Moylan

He was 1-for-3 with his first homer of the season in 3-1 win over Wilmington. He was named Player of the Game after his homer in the third inning tied the game at 1-all.
