It was a whirlwind Easter for East Carolina baseball alum Zach Agnos.
He got word that the Colorado Rockies were calling him up from Triple-A Albuquerque. He was needed as the team had a doubleheader with the Washington Nationals to play on Sunday. Not only did he make the trip to Colorado, but he even pitched Sunday in the team’s 3-1 victory over the Nationals in the second game of the doubleheader.
With many of his family watching in the stands, he came on in the eighth inning and gave up a hit but nothing more on 13 pitches, 10 of them for strikes.
MLB.com even covered his call-up from his grandfather’s point of view. He was a former pro baseball player himself.
