Gabby Fowler went 3-for-3 at the plate, including hitting two home runs, as East Carolina slugged its way past Campbell, 6-0, on Tuesday evening at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.

Anna Sawyer and Hailey Massaro also went yard for the Pirates (25-19, 10-8 AAC) who have now tied the single season program record for home runs with 58 on the season. Emma Jackson was also strong at the plate, going 2-for-3.

After the Pirates plated two runs in the bottom of the second, Fowler smashed to left center to extend ECU’s lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth. The freshman hit her second homer of the day in almost the same location to give the Pirates a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth.

The Pirates turned the bottom of the sixth into a home run derby as Fowler hit her second of the day, followed by Massaro drilling one over the left field wall and Sawyer capping the inning off with a home run that hit the wooden platform in center field.

Campbell loaded the bases in the top of the seventh in an attempt to spoil the shutout but Devin Long would force Campbell into a double play to end the game.

Taylor Apple (11-7) picked up the win with three strikeouts in six innings.
