Pirates play host to Wolfpack Tuesday night

The East Carolina baseball team will look to return to its winning ways after a weekend sweep by Florida Atlantic. N.C. State will be at Clark-LeClair Stadium for a 6 p.m. start on Tuesday.

East Carolina looks to get back into the win column Tuesday night when it welcomes NC State to Lewis Field at Clark-LeClair Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.

The game will stream live on ESPN+ with Evan Budrovich and Mike Mullis on the broadcast. Pirate Radio will also be there and will provide updates on its social media pages.

The Pirates (20-13) dropped all three games in their home series with Florida Atlantic over the weekend but still have emerged victorious in eight of their last 12 outings.

East Carolina is hitting .272 as a team with 48 doubles, two triples, 40 home runs, 160 walks drawn and 42 stolen bases while the Pirate pitching staff sports a 4.26 earned run average with 316 strikeouts and 149 walks in 287.0 innings. Braden Burress continues the lead the way offensively with a .402 batting average and 37 hits. Colby Wallace has driven in a team-best 30 runs and also paces the club in doubles (nine).

ECU collected a home-and-home sweep of the Wolfpack a season ago, defeating NC State 12-4 in Raleigh before picking up a 10-6 win in Greenville behind Jacob Starling’s cycle – the sixth in program history. The Pirates are 13-8 inside the friendly confines of Clark-LeClair Stadium this campaign.

After knocking off UNC Greensboro in the midweek, NC State won two of three over Virginia in Raleigh during the weekend to improve to 21-11 overall. Chris McHugh tops the Wolfpack lineup with a .348 batting average and is tied with three others for the team lead in home runs (six). The NCSU pitching unit owns a 4.81 ERA with 305 strikeouts and 117 walks in 260.0 frames. The Wolfpack is 4-3 in true road games with wins over UNCG, Pittsburgh (twice) and Duke.

NC State leads the all-time series with East Carolina by a 71-44 count. ECU has won the last two encounters between the programs in Greenville.
