ECU scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the fourth after a Tigers error allowed Anna Sawyer to reach home. Memphis would take the lead in the top of the fifth after a sloppy defensive inning from the Pirates allowed three Memphis runs.
The Pirates bounced back quickly as Dalton got on base with a single and Johnson knotted the game with a two-run bomb over the left field wall. Gabby Fowler delivered with a single in the bottom of the sixth and after a sac bunt from Chloe Geijer advanced the runner to second, Scott stepped up with a single to left center to score the go-ahead run.
