Kanisha Anderson went 4-for-4 at the plate including hitting a triple in the fifth inning as East Carolina defeated Norfolk State, 6-2, on Wednesday afternoon at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.

Annie Kate Dalton also had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple of her own, to help break the game open in the fourth inning for the Pirates (20-16, 6-6 AAC).

ECU scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the third on Logan Sutton’s sac fly and Dalton’s three RBI triple was part of a five run fourth inning that extended ECU’s lead to 6-0 going into the fifth inning.

The Spartans were able to score two runs in the top of the fifth but Kendall Frost would reenter the circle and stymie Norfolk State’s down the stretch.

Frost (8-9) struck out three batters and allowed no hits or runs in four innings of work to get the win.
