It was a relatively quiet night except for two ECU alum who were in games on Monday, including a big moment for a pitcher.

In Toledo, Ohio, Carter Spivey got his first appearance with the Columbus Clippers in a 6-5 loss to the Mudhens. Spivey, who was recently assigned there after spending last season with the Lake City Captains, pitched the eighth inning. He struck out one.

Columbus scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to nearly rally and give Spivey a win. The loss was the first of the season for the Clippers.
The following players are being assigned to Double-A Akron from Triple-A Columbus before the RubberDucks opening day game on Friday.

After Monday’s game, Spivey was assigned to the Double-A Akron Rubber Ducks, which open the season on Friday.
Burleson gets pinch hit for Cardinals
Alec Burleson got a pinch-hit single for the St. Louis Cardinals in Monday’s 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.
Burleson singled with one out in the 10th inning to move Pedro Pages to third base. Pages scored on a sacrifice fly by Victor Scott II to the the deficit to one. However, Masyn Winn struck out and left Burleson on base to end the game.
