Spring Training is winding down and Opening Day is nearing. MLB.com has been tracking the games and players who have made an impact so far.
The website includes one player from each team and gives reasons why that player has stood out. One of them is ECU alum Gavin Williams.
The Cleveland Guardians pitcher has sparkled in three Spring Training starts, going 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA and 16 strikeouts over eight innings. It’s quite the contrast from his 3-10 record and 4.86 ERA last season.
“This spring, he again looks like a guy who could be a force near the top of Cleveland’s rotation,” reports MLB.com’s Tim Stebbins.
