INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – East Carolina graduate forward C.J. Walker has been named one of the five Oscar Robertson Trophy National Players of the Week according to an announcement by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday afternoon.

For the 2024-25 season, the USBWA continues its national player of the week program that has been affiliated with the Oscar Robertson Trophy since the 2009-10 season. Prior to last season, the USBWA had recognized just one player each week.

Each Tuesday during the regular season, designated USBWA board members will select five standouts from the 31 Division I conference players of the week to be recognized. This week’s selections were chosen from a list of the conferences that named a player of the week on Monday.

Walker is coming off an impressive week where he averaged 25.5 points on 60.7 percent shooting while also averaging eight rebounds and two blocks in two games that led American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors on Monday. Walker scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season and hit the game-winning shot with four seconds left to help lead the Pirates to an 80-79 win at UTSA last Saturday.

The Sanford, Fla. native is having a career season for the Pirates, averaging 18.2 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game on 53.4 percent shooting from the floor in 24 games played this season.
