With the Detroit Lions’ season over, there is heightened demand for some of the team’s coordinators to be a head coach for another team.
FootballScoop.com reports, “Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has interviewed with Chicago and Jacksonville with another one planned with Las Vegas, while defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has spoken with, or plans to speak to, every NFL team with an opening except for Dallas to this point.”
Should those coaches get hired elsewhere, the assistant coaches on their respective sides of the ball could likely get their chance to fill the vacant spots. One of those is former ECU football coach Scottie Montgomery, the assistant head coach/running backs coach. He’s been successful in the NFL with the Lions and, according to FootballScoop.com, could end up being the Lions’ next offensive coordinator, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Candidates expected to receive consideration to replace Lions OC Ben Johnson and DC Aaron Glenn include:
šLions assistant head coach/running backs coach Scottie Montgomery
šLions passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand.
šLions linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppardā¦
