NIL takes another turn as two AAC coaches ‘call out’ other programs

by | Jan 15, 2025

There’s no doubt Name Image Likeness (NIL) has changed college sports.

Some big-boy schools like Alabama, Ohio State and North Carolina have no problem meeting college athletes’ demands for getting paid big bucks to play sports. However, not every college has it easy.

USAToday.com reports UAB football coach Trent Dilfer went on WJOX-FM to talk about the Blazers’ struggles to meet those financial demands. He didn’t name names but said two teams in the AAC had a leg up on the rest.

Tulane coach Jon Sumrall took a different route on social media. He used a social media post about Dilfer’s comments and specifically tagged Memphis football coach Ryan Silverfield and South Florida football coach Alex Golesh.
