Who deserves a raise? Alec Burleson may be in line for contract extension with Cards

Money, money, money? Maybe.

The St. Louis Cardinals’ fan site RedBirdsRant.com put together a list of members of the team that could be in line for a contract extension.

That could include ECU grad and current 1B/DH Alec Burleson.

Thomas Gauvain writes in part, “Teams across baseball have been locking up their young players. Which Cardinals should be considered for a long-term extension?”

When it comes to Burleson, giving him a long-term deal sounds like a good idea, Gauvain writes. “Burly’s deal wouldn’t be pricey, but it would buy out his arbitration years while giving both him and the Cardinals financial assurance.”
