Opening Day gives all baseball writers the chance to make predictions about teams and players.
WaitingForNextYear.com writer Joe Gerberry covers the Cleveland Guardians and made his assessment about which players will have a breakout season. ECU alum and Guardians starting pitcher Gavin Williams has been all the buzz after a Spring Training that saw him strike out 26 over 17.1 innings and pick up two wins.
Gerberry writes in part, “Williams found the hammer curveball this winter and used it to nail down opponents. If he’s able to start generating whiffs the way he was in spring training, a 19.0% swinging strike rate, the Guardians have their top two starters for the next three to four years.”
