Trey Yesavage will try to keep Blue Jays’ season going with Game 6 start

by | Oct 19, 2025

After blowing a lead in Game 5 of the ALCS with the Seattle Mariners, the Toronto Blue Jays are in a win-or-go-home scenario on Sunday.

Toronto is back home and will host Seattle in Game 6 of the series, which the Mariners lead 3-2. ECU alum and rookie sensation Trey Yesavage will get the start for Game 6, slated to start at 8 p.m. While Blue Jays manager John Schneider all hands will be on deck in this game, it all starts with Yesavage.

As SI.com has explained, Yesavage has had a meteoric rise to the majors. He’ll be making just his sixth start on the mound for the Blue Jays in what is no doubt his biggest game.

Maddy Dickens wrote in part, “The 22-year-old has very little experience at this level, but that doesn’t mean he has not been able to come through already for the Blue Jays. His last start of the regular season was against the Tampa Bay Rays with the AL East title up for grabs, and he struck out five batters in five scoreless innings.

“Yesavage is now tasked with bouncing back from his last outing with a trip to the World Series on the line. The stakes couldn’t be higher, and it’s telling that Toronto is willing to hand the ball to their young star with their season at risk.”

When talking about the start on Saturday, Yesavage made this comment that has been circulating on social media.
