Trey Yesavage, Dunedin Blue Jays have night to remember in his first start

by | Apr 9, 2025

Trey Yesavage’s minor league debut will certainly be one to remember.

The ECU alum and Toronto Blue Jays prospect pitched for the first time in a minor league game in Monday’s 19-5 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads. Yesavage didn’t get the decision but he went 3.2 innings, gave up a hit, two runs (none earned) with six walks and four strikeouts.

According to the story from the Dunedin Blue Jays, “The Blue Jays No. 2 prospect reached 95.2 MPH on the mound and induced nine whiffs for a 41% whiff rate. All four of Yesavage’s strikeouts came over an eight-batter span.”

It was also dramatic because the Blue Jays had just nine hits, drew 22 walks — a Florida State League record and a Minor League Baseball record — and were hit by three pitches.

Jupiter outfielder and ECU alum Jacob Jenkins-Cowart did not play Tuesday.
