by | Mar 30, 2025

The DC Defenders opened the UFL season with an 18-11 upset of the reigning champion Birmingham Stallions on Sunday.

Former J.H. Rose High star Cornell Powell had two catches for 23 yards in the win against former ECU football coach Skip Holtz, who has won three titles with the USFL/UFL Stallions.

Birmingham had only lost four games, postseason included, since 2022 when the Stallions played in the USFL.
