Pirates in baseball: Trey Yesavage to pitch Saturday for first time in two weeks

by | Jul 26, 2025

A familiar face returns to the mound on Saturday … and you can watch him play for free.

ECU baseball alum Trey Yesavage and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats will take on the Hartford Yard Goats in a game that starts at 6:35 p.m. You can watch the game free on MLB.com, MLB.TV, the MLB and MILB apps and the MLB Pipeline and MILB homepages.

It will be the first time Yesavage has pitched since he struck out the only batter he faced in the MLB Futures All-Star Game on July 12. He’s gotten some extra rest during that stretch and seems primed for the second half of his season.

Yesavage enters the game with a 5-1 record and a 3.19 ERA in 67.2 innings over 16 starts. He has given up 24 earned runs on 37 hits with 30 walks and 111 strikeouts. He has struggled a bit with New Hampshire, going 1-1 with a 6.35 ERA in five starts over 17 innings.

Gavin Williams

It’s try No. 2 as Gavin Williams and the Cleveland Guardians face the Kansas City Royals on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.

It’s slated to start at 2:35 p.m.

Williams (6-4) takes a 3.54 ERA into the contest. He had one of his best outings of his career last Sunday in a win over the Athletics. He pitched seven innings, gave up a run on four hits and struck 11 with a walk.

His 11 strikeouts were the second best he’s had in his career. During his rookie season, he struck out 12 against Toronto on Aug. 7, 2023 then struck out 10 against Tampa Bay on Aug. 12, 2023.

Ryan McCrystal

The newest member of the Dayton Dragons picked up where he left off after being promoted from Daytona.

He batted 2-for-4 and started at catcher in the Dragons’ 4-1 win over South Bend. He singled in the second and in the seventh.

He was promoted from Low-A Daytona on Thursday and played that night, going 0-for-4 with a run scored as the team’s designated hitter.
