Pirates in baseball: Norby shines in rehab start with Jumbo Shrimp

by | Apr 13, 2025

If Saturday was any indication, it sure looks like ECU alum and Marlins third baseman Connor Norby is ready to play again.

Norby was 3-for-4 with two runs and a RBI on a solo homer in a 4-3 win by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp over the Charlotte Knights. Norby played at DH and led off the lineup as part of a rehab start after being on the injured list when he hurt his oblique.

The game was part of a doubleheader. He didn’t play in the second game.

We’ll find out soon just how quickly he’ll return to the Marlins’ lineup. It’s likely he’ll return on Tuesday in the opening game of the series with the Diamondbacks. The Marlins are off on Monday.

Jacob Jenkins-Cowart

Playing at designated hitter, ECU alum and Jupiter Hammerheads star Jacob Jenkins-Cowart had another big game in his team’s 13-6 win over Dunedin.

He went 3-for-5 at the plate with a run scored and four RBI and a stolen base in the win. He hit his second double of the season in the second inning and scored later to give Jupiter a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, he singled in a run and doubled in two more in the fifth. He then stole third base but was left there.
