Pirates in baseball: Connor Norby, Ryan McCrystal help teams to victory

Connor Norby helped Miami get off to a hot start and seal up a win Tuesday against San Francisco.

The Marlins won 4-2 as the East Carolina University baseball alum went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI. He singled in a run in the top of the second as Miami extended its lead to 2-0. He then singled and scored in the seventh for what proved to be the final margin.

The win improved the Marlins to 32-45 under first-year head coach and ECU alum Clayton McCullough.

Ryan McCrystal

He started, batted leadoff and was the catcher for Daytona in a 6-3 win over Palm Beach on Tuesday.

McCrystal was 2-for-4 with a run and RBI at the plate. He is now hitting .297 for the season and continues his hot June at the plate. He’s hitting .422 (19 for 45) with eight runs, three doubles, a triple, a homer and 12 RBI this month.

On Tuesday, he hit his third triple of the season in the seventh, driving in a run. He later scored. He also singled in the third inning.

— Gavin Williams goes for the Guardians tonight at 6:35 p.m. against the Blue Jays.

— Trey Yesavage gets a start against Hartford at 7:10 p.m.
