GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team will add eight incoming transfers to its roster for the upcoming 2026 season according to an announcement by fifth-year head coach Shane Winkler on Thursday.

Pitcher Abby Huhn (Iowa State), outfielder Alexis Morgan (UCF), infielder Sarah Stone (Indiana), infielder Lillian Martineau (Georgia Tech), pitcher/utility Julia Apostolakos (South Florida), infielder/utility Erin Parker (North Carolina), catcher/infielder Addison Lund (Charlotte) and outfielder Hailey Deter (Utah) will join the 10 returners from last year’s team that hit a single-season program record 76 home runs, won a program-best 14 American Conference games and made only its second American semifinal appearance since joining the league in 2015.

“I’m proud of the work our staff put in this summer to add such a large transfer class,” Winkler said. “We improved the program in every area with this class.  The ability to get better in the pitching circle through the portal is huge and we did just that.  We’re also bringing in a ton of offensive firepower from both sides of the plate with the hitters that are joining us.  We have had a ton of success with the portal in the past and we believe this group will help us take the next step towards competing for a championship and reaching NCAA postseason play.”
