Parker Byrd releases emotional video ahead of season opener

by | Feb 15, 2025

Parker Byrd released an emotional video of encouragement on his Instagram page on Friday, ahead of the ECU baseball team’s season opener.

Byrd’s video documents his path to getting a historic at-bat during an ECU game after he had lost his right leg in a boating accident. He became just the second person to get an at-bat in a NCAA Division I baseball game with a prosthetic leg.

The post read in part, “The road here hasn’t been easy, but in the hardest moments, I held onto my ‘whys.’ My purpose. That is what pushes me forward.”
