Junior Ethan Norby solidifies his second Preseason All-American title, fourth overall, being named Preseason All-American Second Team, per Perfect Game.
The Kernersville native has garnered at least one All-American Title every year since his freshman season, making the 2024 Freshman All-American First and Second Teams (Perfect Game and Baseball America).
Norby has been exceptional in the Pirates’ rotation, helping ECU in the 2025 season clinch the American Conference Tournament Championship, as well as a NCAA Regional Appearance. Entering NCAA play, he slotted second in the American Athletic Conference and 10th nationally in strikeouts while ranking 19th among NCAA Division I pitchers in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.41) and 27th in strikeouts per nine innings (11.90).
In the 2025 NCAA Conway Regional, Norby earned the first win against No. 17 Florida in ECU history, with the Pirates’ last meeting with Florida being in 1994. Norby went 7.1 innings, only giving up six hits with 10 strikeouts, leaving the Gators in the dust.
Norby held an 8-5 record in 18 appearances with 14 starts. In 90.0 innings, Norby was able to lead the Pirates in strikeouts with 119, while also holding the fourth overall record for single-season strikeouts. He only gave up 22 walks on the season and held his opponents to a .215 batting average.
Norby received postseason honors, being named 2025 All-Conference Second Team honors and was named 2025 Third Team All-American (Perfect Game).
