Inquiring minds want to know.

New UNC head football coach Bill Belichick is still technically on the job. He’s been recruiting and introducing new transfer portal players. He’s also been busy at other school-related functions.

But he hasn’t signed his contract to be the UNC coach?

CBSSports.com pointed this out and wrote an article speculating why. The report said there would be a $10 million buyout if he returned to the NFL before June 1. After that, the buyout would be just $1 million.

Belichick has that in his wallet now, right?

CBSSports.com also reports Belichick signed a formal sheet proposal on Dec.11 after UNC agreed to his small book of demands. Industry sources told the website not signing the final contract is common in the college ranks. So there’s no real reason for alarm. Yet.

However, the website also said, “that could create a legal gray area about how much, if any, of a buyout would exist if Belichick left for the pros.”
