IRVING, TexasEast Carolina women’s basketball’s Amiya Joyner and Devin Hagemann have been named the American Athletic Conference’s Player and Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Joyner, a junior out of Farmville, earned her second Player of the Week nod of the season after averaging 21.5 points and 8.5 points in two games last season. She also contributed four steals, two assists and two blocks on the week. She started the week off with a double-double on 22 points and 11 assists in the team’s road win at UAB on Wednesday before scoring 21 points on a wildly efficient 7-10 from the field in the win over Tulsa.

Hagemann, a rookie by way of Detroit, Mich., earned her third Freshman of the Week nod after averaging 10 points and 6.5 assists per game in the two wins. She had a career best eight assists in the win over Tulsa which gave her 25 over the last four games, the most by an ECU player since Alex Frazier had 26 from Dec. 20, 2017 to Jan. 3, 2018.

Joyner, Hagemann and the Pirates will be back in action on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. as they hit the road to take on the UTSA Roadrunners.
